This article reports on the impact of homelessness on children?s education. It summarises key findings from surveys of children attending the Merri Outreach Support Service in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria, regarding housing circumstances, disability and health, experience of violence and its impact on mental wellbeing, school enrolment and attendance, academic achievement, learning difficulties, and financial costs. The article also discusses usage of the new Homeless Children's Brokerage Support and concludes with recommendations for schools and service providers on improving the outcomes of homeless children.
